This is a great time to make a commitment to your heart health. Consider it your fresh start on your health. It does not matter what you did yesterday, or even this morning, what matters is what you are going to do for your health right now and going forward. Committing to a healthy heart is only the first step. Staying committed is a different issue.

So what can you do to stay committed to a healthy lifestyle?

  1. Tell others about your commitment. Being accountable to others is a huge help. Just when you are ready to skip your work out your spouse can remind you why you want to work out.
  2. Join a group pledge – Such as the Million Hearts. Million Hearts is run by the CDC to try and prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes over the next five years. This is similar to number one, but puts you in a group format to achieve a bigger goal. This is especially great if you don’t have someone who is supportive, or you want to be with other like minded people.
  3. Post a picture of why you want to have a healthy heart. I have pictures of my son and family all over so I can remember that I want to be around to enjoy them.
  4. Post your heart stats. Seeing your cholesterol number every morning can help you remember why you are eating healthy.
  5. Keep a positive attitude. Instead of saying “I can’t have cookies” say “I get to have strawberries for dessert”. When you are focused on the positives it is easier to stay committed.

Ultimately remember that when you commit to living a healthy lifestyle you are saying yes to you. You are providing you with a better way of life and the opportunity to live longer and experience more. Commit today to you!

Love This!

Sometimes I need coffee to do my morning workout - sometimes water won’t get me to the end!  Plus Coffee is supposed to prevent heart disease right?

Elizabeth Banks using a little comedic relief for the American Heart Association to give women some health relief when it comes to heart wellness. This video definitely brings the laughs, but also reminds us how important it is to be aware of heart health! This is a cause very close to Banks’ heart (no pun intended) as members of her family suffer from heart disease, so we love to see her do good for a personal issue of hers.

This is soooo true!!!

Huge hunger levels today, trying to keep it healthy and under calorie count may be a bit of a struggle.  May have to add a walk to the day!
